Nawar’s artistic journey began in childhood, nurtured by a fascination with both music and painting. Seeking a space to give form to his creativity, he later graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Damascus, specializing in Graphic Arts (Printmaking). This foundation expanded his visual language and encouraged experimentation with diverse media, textures, and colors — shaping him into the versatile mixed-media artist he is today.
In his work, Nawar reveals the intimate link between person and artist. He believes the two are inseparable, and his art reflects this conviction through delicate brushstrokes and emotional depth. People and personhood lie at the heart of his practice: inspired by those he encounters in daily life and through travel, he explores the universal connections that unite human experience.
The figures in his paintings are abstractions of identity — not portraits, but reflections of inner worlds. Stripped of physical features, they express emotion, memory, and the unseen layers of the psyche. Having lived in Syria, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai, Nawar has held solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group shows locally and internationally. His works are included in private collections across the Middle East and beyond.
