Andreas Morphis

Andreas Morphis was born in Limassol and studied architecture in southern France. After completing his studies in 1987, he settled in Paris where he created his own studio.

Since 2010 he has been splitting his time between Cyprus and France practicing his two great passions: architecture and painting.

In 2004, as part of Cyprus accession to the European Union, the artist participates with his work in the group exhibition “Culture Chypriote au Coeur de l’Europe” – “Cypriot Culture in the Heart of Europe” at the Bansard Gallery in Paris, exhibiting at his work is the interactive enigma reflected by the two cultures, French and Cypriot, in his creations.

In 2007 he is exhibiting at UNESCO in Paris, where her thematic problematic focuses on human and human relations, through the metaphorical dimension of the inner world of dream figures, in particularly intimate tones. the artist’s new proposal to translate through the unfolding of colors surrealistic figures in response to a creative need to redefine forgotten emotions of the human soul.

In 2011 he presents his works for the first time in Cyprus at the Morfi Gallery in Limassol. In 2019 and 2020 he is selected by the jury of the Société des Artistes Français and participates in the internationally renowned “Art Capital” exhibition organized since 1901 and every year to date in the historic building of the “Grand Palais” in Paris.

Andrea Morphi’s creative work marks the intersection of dual words and analogies, as two cultures subconsciously stamp their mark on man and his work, as this interactive nature consciously and implicitly testifies to its dreamlike dimension.

Instinctive and sensual, this new creation conveys the artist’s expressive gaze, penetrating directly into the interior of thought.

Through dreamlike mirroring games, they portray faces as shattered memories of nostalgia, traveling us in hidden representations of the past Techniques, mixed with these, traverse time in space, capturing light in color, methodically pointing to the enigmatic psychic world of human nature.

Works with narrative intent expose us to the outward thinking of a familiar message, the relationship of man to man.

At the other end of the artist’s hidden desire to release the truths of the figures through color and movement, a serene echo charismatically, through this exhibition, the hopefully unifying of man with his highest creative destiny.

His works are in private collections in France, Switzerland, Norway, Greece, Cyprus, and the Nicosia State Gallery.
