Lumiere Contemporary Art Gallery is pleased to present Whispers on Glass, a solo exhibition by Liubov M, whose luminous works transform mirror glass into a surface of reverie and reflection.
Although she comes from a family with artistic roots, Liubov was raised by a doctor and an engineer. She studied at physics and mathematics school before earning a degree in engineering biotechnology from Moscow State University. Later, she followed the call of art, studying at the British Higher School of Art and Design while also learning the delicate crafts of stained glass and batik.
A lifelong experience of poor eyesight profoundly shaped her artistic perception. It inspired the development of her distinctive relief technique, Vitrarto — a form of painting that can be “read” with the fingertips, where color and texture become a language of touch and light.
In her works, gold, acrylic, and mirror glass intertwine to create tactile visions of women, mythical beings, birds, horses, and dreamlike machines. Each painting becomes a landscape of emotion — a sculpted surface alive with reflection and glow. The mirror beneath acts as both a portal and a veil, reflecting the viewer while concealing secret worlds beneath layers of color and light.
Through her poetic process, Liubov captures the threshold between the seen and the unseen, between silence and whisper. Her art speaks of beauty, memory, and transformation, offering a modern echo of myth and romance rendered on glass.
For the past three years, Liubov lives and works in Cyprus, where her fascination with light, sea, and reflection continues to shape her vision.
Whispers on Glass invites visitors to contemplate not only the painted image but also their own reflection — each work becoming a dialogue between matter and spirit, artist and observer.
Liubov shares, “My works are not meant only to be seen — they are meant to be felt. Each surface carries a whisper of light, a trace of touch, a memory of gold.”
