LUMIERE Contemporary Art Gallery is proud to host a photography exhibition by Erato Kantouna, titled “ONE CLICK AWAY”.
A total of 32 black-and-white photographs and 10 colour ones make up a unique presentation of the seascape, trees, objects but also of the shapes around us, all combined in a harmonious cluster of artworks. “ONE CLICK AWAY” encapsulates the bewilderment of the moment when perspective, reflection, the contrast of light and shade, but also the recurrent flow of natural formations are captured in defiance of time.
Through her distinctive visual angle and artistic creativity, the photographer exposes before our eyes the harmony and beauty of every moment against the passing of time. She brings to us the surprise of every instant entangled with its immortality through the art of photography. Erato Kantouna is the first female photographer in Cyprus and Greece to be awarded, in 1999, the distinction “Excellence FIAP” (EFIAP) of the Fédération
Internationale de l’Art Photographique. Having participated as a contestant in local and international photography contests, she has under her belt several awards, gold medals and distinctions.
Erato was born in Famagusta. She became a refugee in 1974 and has since lived in Limassol. She has been a board member of the Cyprus Photographic Society (Limassol Branch) since its establishment in 1984, and a member of The Coordinating Council of Limassol Cultural Bodies. She has travelled widely to faraway countries (India, Nepal, China, Vietnam, Morocco etc.) and has screened her photographs accompanied by voice-over pertaining
to these countries.
120 colour photographs by Erato Kantouna are featured in Limassol-The Ballad of my Town, an anthology of poetry dedicated to Limassol, published by A. Neocleous (Athens, 2003) in both Greek and English. Since her first solo exhibition in 1998, she has consistently continued to celebrate the Art of Photography and for this she has earned a special place in the hearts of art lovers. The exhibition will be inaugurated by poet-writer Mona Savvidou-Theodoulou.
